It's just one of those records that everyone can not get enough of. It's like a yo-yo. It bounces up and down and all over the place, but always demands your full attention when its playing. The KDTN listeners requested that it be re-added back to the playlist for another go round in 2011, and every since then, it's rated as one of the most requested singles of the stations history. Poised to take the next step, Steve launched his Curb debut single, Don't Make Me Beg, in October 1999 and debuted at the Las Vegas Hilton as the opening act for LeAnn Rimes. Steve's second single, Blue Moon, was released in April 2000 and is steadily climbing the charts. Refusing to be labeled musically, he credits country music greats Charlie Rich, Mickey Gilley and John Conlee for influencing and inspiring his music. Steve will also let you know that Elvis, Sam Cooke and a variety of Doo-Wop bands play a major role in his vocal style and on-stage persona.
Steve's personal delivery on stage has helped build a loyal following. He works hard to not only dazzle them with his singing but connect with them individually on a one-to-one basis. That approach gets him invited back to almost every place he performs. Five years ago, Steve was among 500 hopefuls who auditioned for a spot on the renowned Johnnie High Country Revue in Arlington, Texas, the same show that would later launch Curb recording artists LeAnn Rimes and Shane McAnally. He finished first in the competition and less than a year later was voted "Entertainer of the Year" by the fans. He also became an annual favorite performing three times at the Miss Texas Pageant.
A Dallas native, Steve is the youngest in a large family that boasts of eight children. He credits his parents and long time friend, Johnnie High, as being the most influential figures in his life. He also credits his brothers and sisters with "Keeping his feet firmly planted on the ground." His personal goal is to always remain approachable.
When asked to define success, he describes it as, "an intersection of preparation and opportunity." With years of hard work, planning and the support of Curb Records behind him, Steve Holy is already a major success.
